Ed Greenwood Launches RealmsBound: New Forgotten Realms Books Coming in 2026

Fantasy fans and longtime travelers of the Forgotten Realms have big news to celebrate. Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, has officially announced RealmsBound, a new series of interconnected books launching in Q1 of 2026 on the Dungeon Masters Guild. This multi-year initiative will delve into Faerûn region by region, offering some of the most detailed Realmslore ever published (Greenwood Patreon, 2025).

RealmsBound is produced in partnership with Mythmakers Studio, led by Creative Director Eric Menge, a veteran Realms designer known for his deep lore expertise and decades of work in tabletop gaming (Mythmakers.com). According to Mythmakers, the project will feature both established Realms authors and rising writers contributing new insights while maintaining the lore-respectful tone Greenwood is known for.

The First Region: The Dalelands

Canon Status and Why RealmsBound Matters

Although RealmsBound is not published by Wizards of the Coast and therefore is not considered formal “canon” in the strict corporate sense, it carries immense weight within the Realms community. His third-party Realms writing has long been regarded as spiritually authoritative by fans because it reflects the creator’s intent and expands directly from his personal library of lore.
